A cartridge is a combination of an ink reservoir and a chip that stores important information about the ink in it. The chip controls the amount of ink that flows out of the cartridge while printing. Once all of the initial ink has been used up, one can still print on blank sheets by refilling the cartridge. To add more ink to it, remove its top part and refill with colored inks if any is available or with black if only black is needed for further printing.
Then place back its top part followed by pressing it firmly to set it securely into place prior to use. HP cartridges also come with advanced features such as smart chips and micro-chips installed within them for future smart printing data tracking. This micro-chips help in identifying the ink levels left in the cartridge, its expiry date, and when they are about to run out completely.
