HP print cartridges withhold roughly 8ml-10ml of ink each. For example, a Hp 21 holds 2.5ml, and the HP 20 black cartridge holds 5ml. An average printer uses up each color cartridge about once every month or two but will use the black cartridge much more quickly than that because black colors generally take up a larger percentage of any given image than colors do (due to darkness). If you print exclusively in black and white this number can double. Therefore HP 21 removes many headaches related to running out of ink.
